Crowdsource Choir: Songs of Freedom

A Crowdsource Choir Gathering in honor of MLK & the ongoing work of freedom

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, the broader civil rights movement, and the unfinished work of building a freer, more just world—this month’s Crowdsource Choir gathers around songs that speak to courage, love, and collective liberation.

This is Songs of Freedom: music that has carried people through struggle, lifted spirits in hard times, and reminded us that freedom is something we practice together.

You’ll be guided through reimagined versions of songs like:

  • Three Little Birds by Bob Marley

  • Is This Love by Bob Marley

  • Freedom - Jon Batiste

  • None of Us Are Free - Solomon Burke

  • Pride (In the Name of Love) by U2

...woven into a participatory experience where every voice matters.

What to Expect

Crowdsource Choir is Seattle’s popular participatory singing experience where everyone in the room becomes the choir.
No auditions. No sheet music. No pressure. Just voices raised together in full-bodied, joyful harmony.

This isn’t karaoke or background music. It’s a guided, high-energy, harmony-rich experience—with moments that are loud and uplifting, moments that are tender and reflective, and those unmistakable flashes when the whole room locks in at once.

For Songs of Freedom, the focus is outward and collective:
standing together, singing together, and feeling what it’s like to be part of something larger than yourself.

The Space

The residency takes place in the intimate Art & Music Room at Populus, the city’s newest cultural hub in the historic RailSpur District of Pioneer Square. Designed to weave nature, art, and community into every detail—from its rooftop bar to its warm wood interiors and abundance of plants—Populus is a fitting home for a gathering rooted in civic pride, shared voice, and renewal.
